10 Commandments - Bible vs Quran

The Ten Commandments are a set of biblical principles relating to ethics and worship

The commandments play a fundamental role in Judaism and Christianity. They include instructions to worship only God, as well as prohibitions against idolatry, blasphemy, murder, theft, dishonesty, and adultery.

Islam acknowledges the basic prohibitions given in the Ten Commandments. After all, God is one and His message to mankind has been consistent throughout time.

Listed below are the Ten Commandments along with similar verses found in the Quran.

1. You shall have no other GODS before Me
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him
Quran 17:23
2. You shall not have any false idols
And they set up (idols) as equal to Allah, to mislead (men) from the Path. Say, Enjoy yourselves, for indeed, your destination is the Fire
Quran 14:30
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
[The Prophet] has said, My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that (blasphemy) which you describe
Quran 21:112
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade
Quran 62:9
5. Honor your father and your mother
And to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word
Quran 17:23
6. You shall not murder
You shall not take life, which God has made sacred, except by way of justice and law
Quran 6:151

And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse (Adultery). Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way
Quran 17:32
8. You shall not steal
And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly (in any illegal way e.g. stealing, robbing, deceiving, etc.)
Quran 2:188
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour
And if you give your word, do it justice, even if a near relative is concerned; and fulfill your obligations before God
Quran 6:152
10. You shall not covet your neighbours house; your neighbours wife, or anything that belongs to your neighbours
And to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess
Quran 4:36
