The Interpretation of Knowledge is an gnostic tractate that gives an insight of Christian congregations of both gnostic and non-gnostics living together.However, strong enmity between these groups grow because of division and authoritative possession of spiritual gifts such as prophecy and high authority over congregational groups.

The Nag Hammadi Library is a collection of 13 ancient books containing over 50 texts. This important discovery includes a number of primary "Gnostic Gospels" – texts which were assumed to have been destroyed during the early Christian conflicts.
