Video Description (from Youtube)
Hagar isn’t mentioned at all by name in the #Quran. She’s only referred to in one place in the Quran indirectly, when Abraham prays for his family when he leaves them in the valley. Her story is described in great detail in the #Bible, so it serves as a natural starting point for the discussion. Dr. Shabir Ally shows that similarities and differences between the Biblical and Quranic references to Hagar. While the Quran doesn’t mention Hagar much, she has a respected place in other Islamic sources. Dr. Shabir explains that she isn’t referred to as a concubine in the most authentic sources. Her actions (running back and forth between two hills) is commemorated to this day during the #hajj (pilgrimage).
