History records many dying-and-rising savior Gods.
Belief in the crucifixion of Gods was common in many oriental or heathen countries many years before the arrival of Jesus. Jesus was not the first Messiah to be crucified on a cross.
History books are full of mythical, fictitous characters from the Ancient Near East including Tammuz, Osiris, Dionysus, Adonis, Attis and Baal. A few 'Crucified' Savior Gods are listed below:
