Beginning with the Quran’s statement that “God spoke to Moses directly” (Quran 4:163), he explores how Moses becomes a pattern for later prophets, including the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Turning to the Bible, Dr. Shabir examines Deuteronomy 18:18, where God promises to raise up a prophet “like Moses,” and considers how this passage has been understood across traditions. He also looks at New Testament passages that show expectations of a coming prophet, and explains how Muslims interpret these texts in light of the Quran’s teaching that the Prophet Muhammad does not speak from personal desire (Quran 53:3-4). He concludes with a practical reminder: to follow the Prophet Muhammad is, in a real sense, to stand in continuity with Moses and the long line of prophets who called humanity back to pure devotion to God.
