History records many dying-and-rising savior Gods.

Belief in the crucifixion of Gods was common in many oriental or heathen countries many years before the arrival of Jesus. Jesus was not the first Messiah to be crucified on a cross.

History books are full of mythical, fictitous characters from the Ancient Near East including Tammuz, Osiris, Dionysus, Adonis, Attis and Baal. A few 'Crucified' Savior Gods are listed below:

Godfrey Higgins 1772–1833 Higgins writes of many messiah-like "Saviors" who were crucified on a Cross or tree before ascending to Heaven:

One thing is clear - the mythos of the Hindus, the mythos of the Jews and the mythos of the Greeks are all at bottom the same; and what are called their early histories are not histories of humankind, but are contrivances under the appearance of histories to perpetuate doctrines.
