Jesus was the God 'I AM'

In the Old Testament, one of Gods names is 'I AM'. Jesus used the 'I AM' name for himself. Therefore, many Christians now believe Jesus claimed divinity as the God of the Old Testament.

The table below lists a few Bible verses where 'Ego Eimi' (I Am) is used.

John 8:58 1 of 18
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM (Ego Eimi) hath sent me unto you.
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM (Ego Eimi)
Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh (Greek: 'Ego Eimi', English: 'I Am') is considered to be one of the Seven Names of God according to Jewish tradition.
Trinitarian Christians interpret Exodus 3:14 and John 8:58 as evidence for the divinity of Jesus Christ (i.e. Jesus claimed he was 'I AM' or Yahweh of the Old Testament).

Catholics hold the God, who reveals his name as "I AM", reveals himself as the God who is always there, present to his people in order to save them. Catechism of the Catholic Church 207
Ego eimi ["I am"] does not identify Jesus with God, but it does draw attention to him in the strongest possible terms. 'I am the one - the one you must look at, and listen to, if you would know God.' C.K Barrett, The Gospel According to St John (Westminster Press 1978), p.342

Jesus tells his disciples to believe in him and his message. In the next verse Jesus makes the clear distinction between himself and the one who sent him (i.e. the Father). If Jesus was the Almighty God, why does he refer to another God who sent him?
John 18:5-8 10 of 18
They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I AM (Ego Eimi) he." And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. SUMMARY
The Greek words 'Ego Eimi' (I Am) are used in many verses in the Bible. They are regular sentences with straightforward literal interpretations.

Also, a number of Biblical characters using the words 'Ego Eimi', namely Paul, Peter and Judas. By the same logic applied to John 8:58, Paul, Peter and Judas by virtue of simply uttering these words would have be declared as the God of the Old Testament.
