As a former Methodist minister and social psychologist trained in the study of mass-mediated phenomena, Luther G. Williams, PhD. is a classic cross-disciplinarian. Derek Lambert is a graduate of a Bible college and a lifelong student of the religions of western civilizations. They bring their experiences and perspectives to MythVision, where we recognize that knowledge is transformative.
The communication structures of post-literate society have transformed academic specialties from cubbyholes and tombs into observation towers and launch pads. While expertise within disciplines remains valuable, it is no longer possible to defer to or hide behind specialization without drawing the charge of “argumentum ad verecundiam” (an irrational appeal to authority).
