The Christian life is a relationship with the Lord, a total commitment of unconditional love.
It is analogous to marriage but much greater. Our relationship with the Lord is the deepest personal relationship possible for a human being.

My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies.
