Exodus 20

The book of Exodus is not primarily about the Exodus.

The plagues and the departure from Egypt are only an introduction to the book's final sixteen chapters, which deal with the Dwelling of God and its furnishings.

The Torah is the central reference of the religious Judaic tradition. It has a range of meanings. It can most specifically mean the first 5 books of the 24 books of the Tanakh. The term "Torah" means instruction and offers a way of life for those who follow it; it can mean the continued narrative from Book of Genesis to the end of the Tanakh, and it can even mean the totality of Jewish teaching, culture and practice.
