Jesus the Muslim

Islam teaches that Jesus was a Muslim Prophet of God

Although, Jesus was a Jewish prophet, he preached the worship of one God (or 'the Father'). This belief 'in-essence' made him a Muslim, or one who submitted to God.

1. One God
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God ('Father'), and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent JOHN 17:3 Muslims believe in Tawhid, belief in the absolute oneness of God
2. Messenger of God
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent JOHN 17:3 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he ('Father') that sent me is true, whom ye know not JOHN 7:28 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he ('Father') sent me JOHN 8:42 Muslims believe Jesus was a Messenger of God
3. Submit to God
There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother. MARK 3:31-35 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. MATTHEW 7:21 The definition of the word 'Muslim' is someone who submits to the will of God
4. Circumcised
And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb LUKE 2:21 Male Muslims are circumcised shortly after birth
5. No Swine, Pork or Ham
It is known that Jesus himself was a Jew who worshiped the Jewish God, kept Jewish customs, interpreted the Jewish law, and acquired Jewish disciples, who accepted him as the Jewish messiah. Swine meat consumption is strictly forbidden under Jewish law. In the Quran, Muslims are forbidden from consuming pork/swine meat
6. No Alcohol
It is known that Jesus himself was a Jew who worshiped the Jewish God, kept Jewish customs, interpreted the Jewish law, and acquired Jewish disciples, who accepted him as the Jewish messiah. Alcohol/intoxicant consumption is strictly forbidden under Jewish law. In the Quran, Muslims are forbidden from drinking alcohol or similar intoxicants
7. Modesty + Beard
This can be evidenced from numerous images, paintings and depictions of Jesus Christ in Christian churches today and other literature. Islam urges Muslim men to grow a beard and to dress in simple, modest clothes
8. Pre-Prayer Wash
Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all JOHN 13:10 Muslims must perform a washing ritual ('Wudhu') before they offer prayers
9. Prayers, Face On Ground
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt MATTHEW 26:39 Muslims bow and prostrate with their face on the ground in their daily prayers
10. Peace Greeting
And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house LUKE 10:5 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you JOHN 20:19 Muslims greet one other using the word "Salaam" which literally translates to Peace
11. No Interest/Usury
If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury EXODUS 22:25 Muslims are strictly forbidden against dealing in interest or usury
12. Fasted
And when he (Jesus) had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred MATTHEW 4:2 Muslims fast for 30-days in the month of Ramadhan
13. No Cross
The Cross icon came to represent Christianity many years after Jesus' crucifixion. It never existed as a Christian symbol during Jesus' lifetime. In fact, it was a common symbol amongst the pagans and idolators. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below EXODUS 20:4 Muslims do not wear the Christian Cross or any other pagan symbol
14. Preached Jihad (striving)
And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one LUKE 22:35-36 Muslims strive to do good deeds on a daily basis (ie. charity, assist the elderly, volunteer, teach etc.)
15. Preached Righteous Deeds
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven MATTHEW 5:17-20 Muslims believe that a persons belief/deeds will decide if they enter paradise
16. Miracles from God
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me JOHN 5:30 Muslims believe God gave permission for select prophets to perform miracles as a 'sign' for their people
17. Preached Monotheism
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled MATTHEW 5:17-18 Muslims believe that every prophet was sent by God to cofirm the message of the previous prophets. Muhammad was the last prophet sent by God, and so 'sealed' the mission of all previous prophets
18. Women to Cover
For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered 1 CORINTHIANS 11:6 Muslim women are encouraged to wear the Hijab (hair covering)
